Jack Wilkins Festival Adjudicators Dr. Todd Kelly is Professor of Trumpet and Director of Jazz Ensembles at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He teaches trumpet, directs the Bradley Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Combos, teaches Jazz Improvisation, and serves as an advisor for the Music Business program. The jazz program at Bradley includes two big bands, one combo, and courses in Jazz Improvisation and Jazz History. Dr. Kelly maintains a busy performing schedule in the Central Illinois area with the Brazilionaires, the Todd Kelly Jazz Quintet, the Central Illinois Jazz Orchestra, Four Other rothers, JC and the Redemption, Inner Light, and as a freelance jazz and classical musician. • e has toured throughout the United States with Indian tabla artist Sandip Burman. He has also performed with Wayne Newton, Jerry Le\vis, Charo, the Fifth Dimension, Lesley Gore, Steve Lippia, Mannheim Steamroller, and the national touring companies of Hairspr'!)', • IVi,ked, Mary Poppi11s, The Rat Pack is Bark, Bil!J Elliot, Chicago, l/7hite Christn,as, Ki,,~ Boots, The Book of MoT111on, and La La Land. Dr. Kelly has been published in Band World, Downbeat, JAZZed, and The Instrumentalist. His book, "Chet Baker: 21 Selected Solos" is available through Jamey Aebersold Jazz and i;muhne,.c11111, and he is a contributing author to The Jaz.zer's Cookbook, published by Meredith Music, and Teachi11g Music Through Pe,jom1a11ce in JaZK.far Begin11i1,g E11sembles, published by GIA Music. In the spring of 2013, Dr. Kelly received the Slane College of Fine Arts Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2018, he received the Slane Award for Excellence in Scholarship. An accomplished jazz saxophonist, Jack Wilkins has 5 CD's out as a leader, the newest release on Jim Culbertson was the driving force in the Decatur, Illinois West End Music program for 39 Summit Jazz is titled "The Blue and Green Project." This CD features a unique set of Wilkins original years and led the Decatur {IL) MacArthur High School Band Program which included a well­ compositions and arrangements based in American roots music and inspired by tl1e culture and balanced concert, marching, pep and jazz band program. The Mac Jnzz Band earned the environment of the Appnlachian ~lountains. This unique musical adventure features some distinction as one of the premier jazz groups in the US. The band was awarded 38 Down Bent outstanding musicians perfonning truly original music. Jack's previous CD project, by tl1e group Two magazine Student Music Awards in an assortment of categories garnering the top spot as the of a Kind, is titled "Artwork", and features a number of his compositions along with the music of Best High School Jazz Band in the U.S. four times: 1989, 1991, 1992, 2002 and best jazz Swedish composer Georg Reidel, and Per Daniclsson. This is tl1e second CD from this group, which combo twice (2002 & 2008). Jim was selected by Downbeat Magazine to receive the "National is also heard on Jack's CD "Dear Old Stockholm".
