TREKKING & WILDLIFE VIEWING EASY DAY TRIP FROM SINGLE DAY NAIROBI NO EQUIPMENT MOUNT LONGONOT REQUIRED TREKKING DISCOUNTS FOR GROUPS Mount Longonot is a dormant strato volcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley, just 60km northwest of Nairobi. Its name is derived from the Maasai word “oloonong’ot,” which means “mountains of many spurs” or steep ridges. It last erupted in the 1860s. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi with our single day hiking trip that will take you from the park entrance to the crater. The distance is 9km and a full round trip takes around 5 hrs. The gate is at an altitude of 2150m and the summit at 2780m. A circuit of the rim requires a further 650m of up and down, but is worth the extra steps. A forest of small trees covers the crater floor and small steam vents are found spaced around the wall of the crater. Longonot is home to zebra, giraffe, buffalo, and hartebeest. If you’re lucky, you might just spot a leopard! www.savagewilderness.org | [email protected] | +254 (0) 737 835 963 SINGLE DAY MOUNT LONGONOT TREKKING Your fun filled itinerary.
