Intolerable Acts Activity Use your knowledge of the Intolerable Acts to complete the activity. Write your responses on the worksheet provided. 1. Define the Intolerable Acts and make a list of them. 2. Explain why Great Britain imposed the Intolerable Acts on the colonists. Why were they so “intolerable?” 3. On the back of your worksheet, divide the paper into 4 sections and draw a simple picture of each of the Intolerable Acts. 4. Compare the Intolerable Acts to the Stamp Act and the Sugar Act. Using complete sentences, give three ways they are similar and/or different. 5. The Intolerable Acts were a punishment by the British for the colonists’ actions at the Boston Tea Party. Develop a plan that the colonists could have used to let Britain know how upset they were about the taxes without having to throw all of the tea into the harbor. In what other ways could the colonists have communicated their resentment about all of the taxes? 6. You be the Judge. Were the colonists’ actions justified or did they go too far by throwing tea that did not belong to them into the water? Did the British government overreact by imposing such harsh laws on the colonists? Support your opinion.
