Fujian Province in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is a coastal province with hilly to mountainous terrain accounting for more than 80% of its land area. Although Fujian has undergone rapid economic growth in recent decades, the standard of living among rural households remains much lower than that of the province’s urban population.
