The site is near the confluence of Fall Creek and White River. Osborne Engineering Company, Cleveland, Ohio, planned the ball park with Indianapolis architects Pierre and Wright providing the architectural details. Typical of ballpark planning, the home plate-pitchers mound-second base axis runs southwest to northeast to avoid interference from the summer sun.
