FRIDAY 19 JANUARY 2018 CAST AMENDMENTS TOSCA (Giacomo Puccini) Thursday 22 February at 7.30pm | Saturday 3 March at 12 noon Due to scheduling changes, on 22 February the role of Mario Cavaradossi will be sung by Italian tenor Massimo Giordano and on 3 March the role of Mario Cavaradossi will be sung by Italian tenor Riccardo Massi. Massimo Giordano made his Royal Opera debut in 2003 as Fenton (Falstaff) and has since returned to sing Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) for the Company. He has performed for opera companies including La Scala, Milan, Rome Opera, La Fenice, Venice, Metropolitan Opera, New York, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Paris Opéra, Bavarian State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State Opera and at the Salzburg Festival. Riccardo Massi made his Royal Opera debut in 2014 as Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), and reprised the role with the Company in 2016. He made his operatic debut in 2009 as Radames (Aida) in Salerno under Daniel Oren. He has since performed for the world’s major opera companies and venues, including La Scala, Milan, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Berlin State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris Opéra, Opera Australia, Canadian Opera Company and Royal Swedish Opera. The rest of the cast remains the same. L’ANGE DE NISIDA (Gaetano Donizetti) Wednesday 18 and Saturday 21 July at 7.30pm French baritone Ludovic Tézier has withdrawn from singing the role of King Fernand of Naples. The role will now be sung in all performances by Italian baritone Vito Priante. For all Royal Opera House press releases visit www.roh.org.uk/press Vito Priante made his Royal Opera debut in 2010 as Leone (Tamerlano) and has since sung Escamillo (Carmen) and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for the Company. He has performed throughout Europe and the USA, for opera companies, festivals and venues including La Scala, Milan, Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Los Angeles Opera, the BBC Proms and the Salzburg Festival. His repertory also includes Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Prosdocimo (Il turco in Italia) and Belcore (L’elisir d’amore).
