What is a symbol? Why is it important? What symbols are there in our classroom/school? What symbols are important for you? The Star of David is a symbol for Judaism and the Jewish community. Many people think the Star of David means different things. One ideas is that it represents an inner spiritual centre supported by six sides. Share the design for the star and ask children, what is important to you? If each of the six points represented something that is important to you and your faith, what would you put on them? Children make stars and label them in books with six things that are important to them. Challenge: Write a sentence to explain the importance of their own star.
