The Gusties and Tommies will begin the weekend on Friday, Feb. 14 with a 7:30 p.m. game at the % MIAC/NCHA Showcase (Appleton, Wis.) St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights. The two squads will then bring the series to a close on Saturday, Feb. 15 with a 7:05 p.m. contest at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. GUSTAVUS QUICK FACTS Gustavus enters the weekend in second place in the conference standings after St. Thomas Location: St. Peter, Minnesota jumped into first place last weekend by taking five points against Bethel. ST. THOMAS The Gustavus men’s hockey team is currently in its 72nd season of existence. One of the storied programs in collegiate hockey, Gustavus has compiled an All-Time 59-63-8 all-time record of 846-615-68 overall and 561-422-42 in the MIAC. Gustavus Last Meeting L 3-5 (11/3/13) first recognized a men’s hockey team in 1937 when then Director of Physical Current Streak L - 1 Education George Myrum became interested in the sport and raised the funds to sponsor a team. The Gusties fell to Carleton in their first ever intercollegiate game in 1936. It would take until 1939, the first year Gustavus Head Coach Brett Petersen played on natural ice in the on-campus fieldhouse, for Gustavus to record the Record at Gustavus 195-145-32 first victory in the program’s history. vs. St. Thomas 10-21-2 GUSTAVUS COACHING STAFF Head Coach Je" Boeser Head Coach Brett Petersen is in his 14th season at the helm of the Gustavus Record at St. Thomas 61-30-8 men’s hockey program. Petersen has compiled a 195-145-32 overall record vs. Gustavus 6-2-0 in his 13-plus seasons at Gustavus. His 195 wins at Gustavus ranks second behind legendary coach Don Roberts. He has been named MIAC Coach of the Year twice in his tenure, once in 2001-02 and again in 2009-10. L 0-6 of the most decorated hockey players to don a three crowned sweater, Martinson is a native of St. Louis Park, Minn. After being named the MIAC 11/19/11 St. Peter, Minn. Boeser is in his fourth season as head coach of the St. Thomas men’s hockey team. A 1975 graduate of St. Thomas, Boeser took the reigns of the program in 2010 following the retirement of 23-year head coach Terry CAREER SCORING VS. ST. THOMAS Skrypek. Boeser worked for more than 25 years on St. Thomas sta! as the coordinator of the penalty-kill unit and defensemen.
