En- try to league football in the Kettering Amateur league brought instant success as Division 2 Champi- ons and by the middle of the decade, Park Wanderers were competing in the top flight. The senior side were 1963 Lower Junior Cup runners up to Woodford United while the Reserves were area win- ners in 1966. In 1968, Park Wanderers joined the newly formed Third Division of the UCL and they finished third in the league and won the Knockout Cup, beating British Timken Reserves in the final. A year later BPWFC were promoted as runners up to Long Buckby. We became Burton Park Wanderers FC when we relocated to Burton Latimer in 1971. The club played on the town’s recrea- tion ground before switching to the present Latimer Park venue. The 70’s saw the club reach the Northants Junior cup final in 1975, but 3 years later were relegated from Division one. BURTON YOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB was the only youth football club in Burton Latimer and was founded in 1995 by Derek Styman for the boys of Burton Latimer to play football under the name of Burton Band Youth Football Club. The first team entered the Weetabix Youth Football League as U11’s for the 1995/1996 season but it was not until they reached U13’s that a second age group, the U10’s, was introduced, both played 11 a side football. The 2007/2008 season saw BYFC enter a team in every age group of the Weetabix Youth Football League for the first time ever with a record 13 teams play- ing competitive football. The U7’s up to U10’s playing mini soccer and the remainder playing 11 a side football. 2nd July 2009 saw the merger of the two clubs under the name BURTON PARK WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB where ADULT and YOUTH football were featured. It was and still is the Club's intention to have Women's football and Disability football thereby fulfilling the goal of offering community based football for all ages and abilities. We were also proud to announce that the newly merged BURTON PARK WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB achieved Charter Status in 2009. June 2010 Burton Park Wanderers moved back home to Polwell Lane, Burton Latimer, initially with 1 years lease but discussions continued and a six year lease was secured in August 2010. 2011 saw us celebrating our 50th Anniversary along with ground improvements achieving G Grading. In 2013 it was agreed to allow Kettering Town FC to groundshare at Latimer Park following their spells at Nene Park in Irthlingborough and Steel Park in Corby. For the next 4 years Burton struggled to remain in the UCL Division One division with changes in management. In 2017 Kettering Town FC took over the lease on the site with a groundshare agreed with Burton for use of the site for the next 25 years. In 2017 Daren Young and Tim Broad came in as first team managers and Mark Patrick took over as chairman of the club. This combination led to us finishing 12th in Division One in 2018/19 season. Following Daren taking time out for work commitments a change in management has taken place in the summer of 2019 with James Logan and Adam Coombs taking over. With a successful groundhop game at the end of July we look forward to the season ahead Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to the Jubilee for this afternoon’s United Counties Division 1 game with Burton park Wanderers. I like to take this opportunity to welcome the manage- ment, players, staff and supporters of today’s oppo- nents. I hope you enjoy your brief stay with us here in Huntingdonshire. I will start by saying how surprised I am to see Burton Park at the bottom of the league, I have seen them play this season on a couple of occasions and have been very impressed with the football they play and their work rate. I am sure come the end of the season they will be nowhere near the foot of the table. In CJ they have a very dangerous player who I am sure will get them goals. We will give suitable respect but we fear no foe. The last three games have taught us that we have to earn the points, they are not a given. A bit of complacency had set in with one or two which is why we have been actively continuing to recruit players. Since our last home game prolific marksman Aarron Murrell has joined us from Newport Pagnel and midfielder Kelton Stringer comes in from Godmancher. Both are in today’s squad and shows a continued improvement in playing stock. At the moment it appears that the title is Long Buckbys to loose with everyone else seemingly beating each other. We need to get our season back on track to remain in the hunt. I am hoping it starts today. We are the Hunters and we fear no foe I hope you enjoy the game Lorro Huntingdon Town Football Club were formed in 1995 following a move from the West Anglian League to the Cambs League. Prior to entry to the Cambs League Division 2B for the 1996-97 season, Town were known as Sun FC and originally began life back in 1980 as the Montagu which was formed by the cur- rent Secretary Russell Yezek. The committee decided that they wished to progress in local football and choose to resurrect the then defunct name of Huntingdon Town. Progress was soon made both on & off the field. Behind the scenes the club is run on a very sound footing by a solid committee led by Chair- man Hans Reif. On the playing front the appointment of Manager Andy Rossi, who’s wealth of experi- ence on both the playing & Managerial side, led to a steady climb through the Cambs league. In 1998 “The Town” gained promotion from Division 2B into Division 1B. In the season 1999-2000 the club fin- ished as winners of Division 1B as well as winning the Huntingdonshire FA Junior Cup for the first time. The following season saw more Cup success, retaining the Hunts Junior Cup, as well as runners up in the Hunts Scott Gatty Cup. The 2001-2002 season was also very successful winning the Scott Gatty Cup & also the Hunts Junior Cup for the third successive time. The club also finished runners up in the Cambs League Senior B Division and the Percy Oldham Cup that season. The Club moved to their new site at Jubilee Park in 2003 & this enabled work to be undertaken to provide the facilities necessary for the continued progression of the Club. The team moved to play in the UCL Division 1, having trans- ferred from the Cambs league at the end of the 2002/2003 season. The first four seasons in the United Counties League were something of a learning curve for Town, reflected in their league positions of 17th, 14th, 12th & 14th respectively. The 2007-2008 saw the 1st Team finish 4th only missing out on pro- motion by goal difference & the Reserves win the Reserve Division 2 Title & win the Hunts Benevolent Cup. Huntingdon Town also run an Under 18 side in the Ridgeons Youth League. All three teams play their home games at the Clubs Jubilee Park ground on Kings Ripton Road, In July 2004 the new £37,000 floodlighting system was opened with a match against Peterborough United which attracted a near 1000 crowd. The new £1.1 million Clubhouse was open for the 2009-2010 season with the only success on the field being the all conquering U18 team, winning the league, league Cup & County Cup. The 2011-2012 season started full of optimism, with a new Chairman at the helm & many new signings. Faith was kept with the Management pairing of Ricky Marheineke & Paul Swannell who guided Town to a credible 5th place in the 2010-2011 season after sitting 3rd from bottom when taking over in February 2011. Optimism turned to joy with Town winning the United Counties League Division 1 Title, scoring over 100 goals in the process.
