CROCKER, Town Clerk. Born in Barnstable, Mass,, August 5th, 1864. Died in West Bridgewater, November 12th, 1932. On March 15th, 1909 he was sworn in as Town Clerk, and con- tinued in that capacity for Twenty-three Years. Mourning the loss of his wife who died in 1927, and with continually fail- ing health, he strove on, meeting his misfortunes and valient- ly striving to perform his obligations of Office and his self- imposed duties to the Public, who will long remember him for his many helpful acts, performed without publicity. Town Clerk's Report ANNUAL TOWN MEETING A meeting, duly warned, of the inhabitants of the Town of West Bridgewater, qualified to vote in Elections and Town Affairs was held in the Town Hall on Monday, March 7th, 1932 at 9 o'clock in the forenoon, and the following is a record of the doings of said meeting, viz: The meeting was called to order at 9 o'clock by the Moderator, Howard B. Wilbur, and the call for the meeting was read by the Town Clerk. After Article one had been read, which was to elect the Town Officers named on the Official Ballot, it was voted to waive the reading of the other articles. The record of the service by the Constable was read by the Town Clerk, Edward H. Crocker. Following the reading of the call for the meeting and the Constable's return of the Warrant, the Polls were declared open. The ballot box was inspected by the election officers, and then locked and the key delivered to Ervin W. Lothrop, Constable at the ballot box. The following persons were sworn as election officers by Town Clerk Edward H. Crocker: Thomas Luddy, Orrin King, Grace G. Keenan, Mary H. Pratt, Daniel T. Sullivan, Margaret Kent, Lulu B. Gardner, Stella J. Sriow, Arthur C. Peckham, James A. Hemenway. The polls were open ready for the reception of ballots at 9 o'clock a. m. and at 8 o'clock p. m. it was voted to close same. Upon counting the ballots from the ballot box it was found the total number of ballots cast was 872, which agreed 10 with the number registered on the ballot box. 493 men and 380 women voted. Edward H. Crocker was sworn to a faithful performance of his duties as Town Clerk by the Moderator, Howard B. Wilbur. The oath was administered to the Moderator by the Town Clerk. — 13 ADJOURNED MEETING, MARCH 14, 1932 In accordance with the vote passed at the meeting, March 7, 1932, the adjourned meeting was held Monday, March 14, 1932 at 7.30 o'clock p. m. in charge of the Moderator, Howard B. Wilbur. The following action was taken on the articles in the Warrant: Article 2. To choose Town Officers for the ensuing year not elected on the Official Ballot. Surveyors of Lumber and Measurers of Wood and Bark Albert A. Howard, Elmer Sullivan, James Hemenway, Ches- ter R. Ripley and Robert G. Dean. Field Drivers—George F. Ryder, Albert A. Howard and John Fallon. Fence Viewers—Charles E. Kinney and George G. Tucker. Members of Finance Committee for three years— G. Willard Peterson, Arthur E. Ryder, George N. Davis, John Olson and Chester Thayer. Article 3. Voted to accept the Reports of the Town Officers and Committees as printed in the Town Reports. It was also voted to accept the verbal report of the Committee on Road Program for the year as made by G. A. Peterson. Article 4. Voted—That the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time, in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1st, 1932, and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, and any debt or debts incurred under this note to be paid from the revenue of said financial year. Article 5.
