If one of the Fathers is in the Oratory he will come to the confessional box as soon as is possible. Fr Sebastian M. writes.... The Quarant 'Ore is always a time of grace for the Oratory and Parish and this year will be no different. In fact the analogy of a "pause button" will not be lost on those who were able to make a visit to St Alban's for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. That is not the last word... a "pause button" holds the scene suspended, but real life is not paused, it develops so pausing from the many demands upon us at home and work and the exhausting news cycle is only one element of why a visit to the Blessed Sacrament is so important: it gives us perspective. Here one could employ another analogy, that of a dehydrated man finding an oasis in the middle of a desert: the much hoped for refreshment of nourishment and shade so as to be restored to strength and then continue on. Journeying through the hostile desert is a recurrent theme in the Scripture and Theology and speaks to the soul more accurately especially when one is aware of the extent one feels spiritually and humanly drained on occasions. The time we spend in prayer at home, before the Blessed Sacrament, out and about, or in the park or countryside, wherever it is, is never time wasted. Let us remember that we are always in the holy presence of God, and let us adore Him!
