YUMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Yuma County Airport Authority 2191 E 32nd St, Ste 218, Yuma, AZ 85365 (928) 726-5882 PORT OF OPPORTUNITY September 8, 2012 Wayne Benesch Attorney Byrne & Benesch, P.C. 230 W. Morrison Street Yuma, AZ 85366-6446 Dear Mr. Benesch, Regarding the recent Public Records Request from Mr. Gamez: I completed the analysis and identified 1,304 documents that match his search criteria out of the 43,070 documents in my email archive. After applying a security filter there are 441 email messages that I feel are releasable. I have documented the processes below to arrive at this conclusion and offer it for your review. Wha’cha think? Starting with a database of all email records, we created two working “folders” to sift through the information. One folder is the “target” folder and one is the “Gen Grosse” folder. From the view of all emails we used the search function built into Notes to extract specific messages and then added them to the “target” folder, as shown below: Step 1) Create a “Target” folder and add all email containing the phrase: Search Terms to add Hits Document count Bill Gresser 577 579 Rob Ingold 438 848 James Corbett 148 944 Paul Johnson 40 979 Greg Wilkinson 58 1,027 The next phase included a large set of emails that contained the name “Gen Grosse.” From that set we pulled out four subsets of emails that included the four search terms shown below. These subsets were added to the “Target” folder. Step 2) In separate folder add all email from Gen Grosse 5,000 5,000 Step 3) Transfer to target folder emails that include: Search Terms to add Hits Document Count Million Air 257 1,264 Joe Gamez 40 1,304 Mitch Dunn 0 1,304 Freeman holdings 0 1,304 1,304 email messages meet Mr. Gamez’s criteria. We then applied the filter that you and I discussed. The filter terms are included below along with the hit counts on each search term: Step 4: Delete emails by the following filter keywords: Search Terms to Delete Hits Document Count aircraft parking 24 1,280 security badge 1 1,279 gate access 10 1,269 .mil 141 1,128 Benesch 264 864 Mcculloch 9 855 Lieberman 1 854 Gerding 3 851 Armament 3 848 gc.ca (Canadian military) 12 836 .uk (British military) 9 827 Troops 5 822 BAE Systems (UK contractor on Nimrod) 5 817 Remove email not to/from people above 304 513 Remove emails to myself via software alert 34 479 Remove calendar entries 25 454 Remove invitations 4 450 Royal Air Force 7 443 Candadian 3 440 British 2 438 Add back Paul Johnson 3 441 The final package of 441 emails, totaling 817 pages is attached to this memorandum. If this looks good for you, I will release the documents to Mr. Gamez for his “review” only.
