Spring Street, Room 395 ATTN: Planning and Land Use Committee and Transportation Committee Gold Line Eastside Extension Transit Oriented Districts-Letter of Clarification Dear Honorable Members: At the December 12, 2006 meeting, the City Council adopted the Planning and Land Use Management Committee's report authorizing the Department of City Planning (DCP) to retain up to three consultant teams for the creation of Transit-Oriented Districts (TODs) around seven stations of the Gold Line Eastside Extension and the Exposition Line. Three of the seven stations are located along the Gold Line Extension. The three Gold Line Extension stations originally proposed to be studied were the Pico-Aliso Station (First Street/Utah Street), Mariachi Plaza Station (First Street/Boyle Avenue), and the Soto Station (First Street/Soto Avenue). Based upon numerous public efforts by DCP, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Housing Department (LAHD), the Housing Authority, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Metro occurring near the Pico-Aliso Station, DCP has exchanged the Pico-Aliso Station for the 3Cd Street/Indiana Street Station (the last station stop located within the City) as the TOD study area. The Department believes this is a more efficient use of public resources and will extend the assistance of a TOD analysis to an additional area of the City that has not been as planned as other Gold Line stations. The total number of stations examined along the Gold Line Extension will remain at three. There will be no change to the funding of the project or any delay in the RFP process with this change.
