Updated by EW on 08/10/2020, 02/09/2021 and 03/24/2021. HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES Donor Robert S. Wiley obtained many of these photographs from Congressman Rep. Dewey Jackson Short who presented them to Wiley as a gift. Rep. Short was from Galena, Stone County, Missouri and most of the images in this collection are of Galena and surrounding areas. Of note are a series of photographs of President Harry S Truman in Independence, Missouri during a visit made on November 1, 1948. Other subjects include Powersite Dam, tornados in Webb City and Hurley, schools, commerce, and agriculture. as of 03/24/2021 ROBERT S.
