It was a great start to August’s bank holiday weekend and the second ever street market was even bigger and better then the first with more stalls, new stall structures and new venues for events. Market Street was awash with colour and aroma, Pictured: Left: Bows, Bows with stalls including crafts, gardening, children’s Bows and Smoothie Bike. So the volunteers who helped to make this such a fantastically positive community event should feel very proud. It was also a day to celebrate the relaunch of Thornton Community Centre as it transitions to community management. The freshly decorated building had a real buzz as people enjoyed cakes, a piece of history, tombola, crafts, sweet treats and the opportunity to make their own smoothie by riding a bike. Thornton Street Market day is also a chance to celebrate the village and this was reflected in activities and entertainment from neighbouring businesses, pubs, library, South Square and Church getting involved too.
