Colorado is 3-0-0 in exhibition games so far this season with wins over the Wild, the Dallas Stars and the Los Angeles Kings. Tonight’s contest will be the final home game of the preseason for Colorado. They’ll play another road contest at Dallas on Wednesday and then wrap up the preseason with the annual Frozen Fury game against the Kings on Sat., Oct. 8 at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Tune In: All preseason and regular season games can be heard on the Altitude Radio Network, with Altitude Sports Radio (KKSE 950AM) serving as the flagship home of Avalanche hockey in 2016-17. Marc Moser will call the action for all six exhibition games and all 82 regular season contests, with Altitude TV analyst Peter McNab joining him in the booth for the preseason. Colorado has outscored opponents 11-4 through three games and is a perfect 14-for-14 on the penalty kill. With three goals in two games, center Mikhail Grigorenko leads all Avalanche skaters and is tied for second in the NHL in goals. Grigorenko scored twice to lead the Avalanche to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night. The Avs raced out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period and led 2-1 heading into the first intermission. Grigorenko’s second tally came on the power play early in the second stanza to give Colorado the win. Nathan MacKinnon, playing in his first preseason contest, scored the Avs’ first goal. Semyon Varlamov, also seeing his first preseason action since returning from the World Cup, played all 60 minutes in goal and made 33 saves on 34 shots. SeconD Exhibition Meeting With WilD: Tuesday night’s game will be the second of the preseason between the Avalanche and the Wild. The Avs fought back from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild in its preseason opener on Sept. 27 at the Xcel Energy Center. Rene Bourque led the way with a goal and an assist for Colorado, while Mike Sislo, Mikhail Grigorenko and Ben Smith each added tallies in the win. Jeremy Smith started the game in net and played 40 minutes, finishing with 16 saves on 17 shots. Nathan Lieuwen, who began the third period, stopped all 11 shots he faced. Defenseman Tyson Barrie led all skaters with four points (one goal, three assists) in five games against the Wild during the 2015-16 regular season. Francois Beauchemin (three assists), Nathan MacKinnon (three assists) and John Mitchell (one goal, two assists) each added three points. Jarome Iginla and Mitchell were the leading goal scorers in the season series with two tallies apiece. With 17 career points each against Minnesota, Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog are tied for seventh in Avalanche history all-time against the Wild.
