Another MAD winnerBy Anton KaridianI just finished "Amazingly Stupid MAD" and enjoyed it quite much. I've been a MAD fan since I was a kid in the 1970s, and about the last 5 years I've been reading it more often. I keep it beside my bed so I can get some laughs late at night, and it's great to go to sleep in a better mood. This book is a funny one, with a considerable variety of madness in it. Sergio Aragones' comics are always among my favorites, and he's in here several times. Also comic sections by Al Jaffee, Paul Coker, John Caldwell, Duck Edwing, and Don Martin, who are also some of my faves. Overall, it's mostly the more recent "Gang of Idiots" in here, some of whom I like a lot too, but still there's a significant amount of the old gang I grew up with in the '70s. Only 2 movie parodies are here, spoofs of "Star Wars" Episodes 4 and 5. I like the advertisement spoofs too. At 192 pages, this "Expanded Edition" is said to have "37% more dumbness" than the regular paperback version, and it's mostly in color if that matters to you. There is a bit of emphasis on MAD's teenage readers, with segments on things like video arcades, summer jobs, Lemony Snicket books, and the like, but there's less emphasis on teen topics than some Mad books have.
