PLANNING OUR FUTURE CITY TOGETHER Review of District Plans The Council of the City of Cape Town approved the revised Municipal Spatial Development Framework (MSDF) in April 2018. This guides decision-making on the nature, form, scale and location of urban development, land use, maintenance and development of infrastructure as well as the protection of environmental resources. The City is now reviewing its eight district plans which must give effect to the revised MSDF. These medium-term (10-year) plans guide spatial development and land use management within each city district and are approved by the Council. The plans provide policy direction for the nature and form of development in each district and guide land use and environmental decisions. They also inform strategic public and private investment initiatives as well as the development of priorities for more detailed local area planning. The plans are: • Blaauwberg District Plan • Cape Flats District Plan • Helderberg District Plan • Khayelitsha/Mitchells Plain/ Greater Blue Downs District Plan • Northern District Plan • Southern District Plan • Table Bay District Plan • Tygerberg District Plan The City invites citizens, organisations, businesses and interested and affected parties to participate in this planning process.
