Location: east side of Île de la Cité Modern day use: Church Cathedrale Notre-Dame Cathedrale Notre-Dame is one of the oldest buildings in France. It was started back in 1163 and was not completed until 1345 it took 182 years to build. The original designer is unknown even to this day. It was built with the gothic architecture that was famous of the day. It was built to replace an existing church that was torn down to replace it with Notre-Dame. It is located at Île de la Cité. This is one of the oldest sectors of Paris. It has seen many historical events go through it. Napoleon being crowned, a book and play wrote about it, and a mass for the liberation of Paris is held in it. Through the years is still used as it¶s intended use a church. .
