Presently ours is a ‘B’ grade college with CGPA 2.71 points on scale. We always strived to enhance our institution’s performance in the coming accreditation cycle. In the post accreditation period our institution has found its growth in different spheres like academic, infrastructure, ICT adoption, curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Re-accreditation Report presents the summary of the activities of our college. The report is in two-parts, one consisting of institutional and departmental profiles and the other containing Criteria-wise Evaluative Report. It also contains the Executive summary, SWOC analysis and the annexure. Proper construction, timely completion and submission of the report requires dedicated efforts and hard work. I record with a sense of appreciation and gratitude the efforts of the Teaching and Non- teaching faculty of the college in preparing the Re-Accreditation Report. C.S.BEMBALAGI (1881-1983) After whom the faculty of Arts is named, Shri.Channabasappa Shivalingappa Bembalagi was born on 11th August 1881, was rich, enthusiastic and great lover of education. He became the first donor of our Samiti, which made the beginning of our institution. The samiti with deep sense of gratitude named the Arts Faculty after him as “C.S.Bembalagi Arts College Ramdurg” in 1966. He was also responsible to start “Shri. Falahareshwar Uchit Prasada Nilaya” which provided free boarding and lodging to the poor and deserving students in those days. As a member of Praja Sangha during “Ramdurg state Liberation Movement”, he worked whole heartedly for the cause of farmers. His contributions are immense to the cause of education, people and society at large. His services to Banks, Educational institutions and in particular Vidya Prasarak Samiti are ever memorable. The marathon innings of this ever energetic old man and chief patron of our institution came to an end on 4th June 1983. SHA.M.R.PALARESHA (1919-1998) After whom the Faculty of Science is named Sha.Motilal Raichand Palaresha was born in 1919, hailed from Rajastan to Ramdurg for business. Though his mother-tongue was Marwadi, he was well versed in Kannada, Gujarati and Hindi Languages. This multi-linguistic knowledge helped him to develop the business magnificently. He made a generous donation to our Samiti for the Cause of higher education of the youths of this region. As a matter of pride and honour the Science Faculty is named after him as “Sha.Motilal Raichand Palaresha Science College, Ramdurg”. His social and educational services to this area are immense and worthy to note. The philanthropist and the man with concern for education and social commitments had lost his breath on 11th May, 1998. Mr.Giridharlal Lachamandas Rathi was born in 1902, involved himself in business from the beginning. He was very much influenced by Gandhiji’s life and thoughts and took active participation in the freedom movement. As a result he was imprisoned from 1939 to 1942. He was firmly committed to the social services. He made a large number of donations for the cause of education and social reforms. As such he made a generous donation to our Samiti for the cause of education. As a matter of pride and respect the Commerce Faculty is named after him as “Giridharlal Lachamandas Rathi Commerce College, Ramdurg”. He derived pleasure in entertaining Sadhus and Saints visiting our state. It is a matter of immense pleasure and pride for his family that the college new building is constructed in place where he was imprisoned during freedom movement. The follower of Ghandhiji, the freedom fighter and grand patron of our college Shri.G.L.Rathi had lost his breath on 9th January, 1996. SSR for third cycle of accreditation by NAAC 2016 Page 7 VPS CSB ARTS SMRP SCIENCE GLR COMMERCE COLLEGE, RADMRUG About Vidya Pasarak Samiti The Vidya Prasarak Samiti was established in December 1965 and was registered as a trust, with the objective of imparting education among the youths, farmers’, weavers’ community and the other educationally disadvantaged people in and around Ramdurg taluka of Belagavi district of Karnataka state. The Vidya Prasarak Samiti is playing a key role in the academic and socio-economic upliftment of people of Ramdurg and surrounding area. Till 1965, the students of Ramdurg and Ramdurg taluka went to neighbouring towns and cities for higher education. Hence, some of our elders felt the great need to provide higher education to the students of our area. A band of eight enthusiastic citizens of Ramdurg namely Late Dr.P.M.Apte, Late Shri.C.S.Bembalagi, Late Shri.C.D.Halyal, Late Shri.B.B.Shiddibhavi, Late Shri.A.I.Morabad, Late Shri.M.B.Munavalli, Shri.S.S.Patil, Shri.B.V.Pattanshetti solemnly came forward to establish an educational institution at Ramdurg. The result was the establishment of Vidya Prasarak Samiti. Over the years, the institutions from kindergarten to Under- Graduation found their place on the educational map of Vidya Prasarak Samiti. At present the Vidya Prasarak Samiti is running 09 institutions in different spheres of knowledge. Its success story of 50 years portrays the dedication with which its members have worked selflessly. In the year 2016 we are all very happy to witness the ‘Golden Jubilee’ celebration of Vidya Prasarak Samiti. The salient features of Vidya Prasarak Samiti are ; Ø To promote education among the aspirants from rural background and disadvantaged groups. Ø To safeguard the cultural heritage and traditions of our land. Ø To take the generation with fast growing scientific and technological progress with its pace. Ø To develop the positive attitudes towards maintaining peace, harmony, brotherhood and to be free from social evils like caste, creed, religion, gender disparity, poverty etc. VIDYA PRASARAK SAMITI EMBLEM Ø The emblem on its forehead consists “«zÁå ¥Àæ¸ÁgÀPÀ ¸À«Äw”. The name of the Samiti indicates the objective for which it is born. Ø The vision of Vidya Prasarak Samiti proclaims “«zÉåAiÉÄà ¨Á½£À ¨É¼ÀPÀÄ”, that the Samiti believes in “Education is light of life” Ø The burning flame in the centre symbolises the perennial process of learning to gain knowledge. Further it indicates the process of taking the generation from darkness to light. Ø The flame is in between the earth and the sky, which are standing for unlimited universe, is bountiful and creative. It is the completeness of life. Till 1965, the year in which Vidya Prasarak Samiti was established, the students of Ramdurg did not have the facility of higher education. Keeping in view of providing higher education to the students of this area, a band of eight enthusiastic citizens of Ramdurg put their dedicated efforts and sacrifice to establish an educational institution at Ramdurg. The generous donations by the grand patrons and philanthropists namely- Late Shri.Channabasappa. Shivalingappa. Bembalagi, Late Sha.Motilal Raichand Palaresha and Late Giridharlal Lachamandas Rathi helped a lot to realise the dream of establishing educational institution of higher education at Ramdurg by Vidya Prasarak Samiti.
