GRAND ILLUSION – Technical Rider

GRAND ILLUSION – Technical Rider GRAND ILLUSION is a 5-piece award-winning regional band from the Northeastern United States, performing the music of STYX. The band consists of 2 guitar players, a bass player, a keyboard player and drummer. One of the guitar players, bassist, and keyboard player all sing, with the bulk of the lead vocals being sung by the keyboard player. Rick Allen – Lead vocals, keyboards Ric Stave – Vocals, bass guitar, keyboard, bass pedals Scott Helfrich – Vocals, electric and acoustic guitars John Daniels – Electric guitars, mandolin Jon White – Drums, percussion Setup: There should be at least 90 – 120 mins. load-in/setup time allowed prior to soundcheck, and IF POSSIBLE, with ample time between end of soundcheck and “doors open” to allow for band member performance prep (20-30 mins. minimum for wardrobe, hair, make-up, etc.). 2-Option Setups (see attached stage plots): GRAND ILLUSION allows for 2 options for stage setups. The first and preferred “Option-A” uses 2 risers approx. 8’x8’ square and approx. 12” in height, one for the drummer placed at extreme stage right angled approx. 30° facing towards center stage. The other riser is placed at extreme stage left for the keyboard player/lead singer at the opposite 30° angle as the drummer, facing towards center stage. This option would require a performance area on stage of approx. 25’-30’ x 18’ minimum. Setup “Option-B” is the classic single drum riser center-rear stage with all 4 other musicians setting up on the stage from left to right in front of the riser (see attached stage plots for both options). **NOTE: “Option-B” is to be used as a last resort ONLY IF stage size restraints and/or lack of 2nd riser prevents the preferred 2-riser “Option-A” from being used. VENUE-EVENT-STAGE CREW IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLYING RISER(S) FOR EITHER SETUP OPTION UNLESS OTHERWISE ARRANGED BY THE BAND. Power drops, Hi Z/Lo Z lines, monitors, etc. is identical for both setup options other than line layout and monitor placement with lighting adjustments obviously being required for the drummer and the keyboard player/lead singer depending on which setup option is being used. Tech Requirements: All backline amps & instruments will be supplied by performers. This band requires a little larger footprint due to its 5 members, 2 keyboard players and the large keyboard rig at Stage left that’s almost as large as the drum/riser footprint even when using setup “Option-B”. Also, if reasonably obtainable, a secure clean and private dressing room/area should be available for wardrobe changes/personal belongings storage during performance. .
