
SINEMA: SEVEN DEADLY SINS IN CINEMA AND STORY Coordinators: Sylvia Brill, Moya Duffy, Bob Gerace and Marianne Nelson Sin is making a comeback! Most of us have exchanged the language of the confessional for the language of the therapist’s couch. However, since 9/11 fundamental attitudes have grown in all religions. With this in mind, we explore the seven deadly sins as portrayed in nine films and six short stories. A coursepack includes the six short stories and articles pertinent to each film. The films are to be viewed and the stories read at home and then discussed in class. Bob has coordinated several literature and cinema study groups. Sylvia has coordinated several study groups. Moya has coordinated several film study groups. Marianne has coordinated several film and law study groups. Readings and other Required Materials: A coursepack contains the nine short stories and pertinent articles on the films. The coursepack includes: a Forward, Introduction to short stories, and a glossary of literary terms and film terminology; all of the short stories; academic articles (1 to 3) accompanying the films.
