Corporation retained Terraprobe Inc. (Terraprobe), to complete a Contamination Overview Study of the Regional Road site located at Dufferin Street between Langstaff Road and Teston Road, Vaughan, Ontario (the “Site”). The boundaries of the study (the “Study Area”) extend approximately 100 m east and west of Dufferin Street across the whole Site. These boundaries extend an additional distance to the east and/or west by approximately 250 m at Teston Road and Major Mackenzie Drive West. The Site shape is generally rectangular with a total length of approximately 6.6 km. The Site is developed as a roadway. Under Ontario Regulation 153/04, the Site is considered to be in Community Land Use by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). The investigation identified the following potential contaminating activities within the Study Area: #30 Importation of Fill Material of Unknown Quality #28 Gasoline and Associated Products Storage in Fixed Tanks #34 Metal Fabrication #37 Operation of Dry Cleaning Equipment (where chemicals are used) #39 Paints Manufacturing, Processing and Bulk Storage #57 Vehicles and Associated Parts Manufacturing #59 Wood Treating and Preservative Facility and Bulk Storage of Treated and Preserved Wood Products #10 Commercial Autobody Shops #19 Electronic and Computer Equipment Manufacturing Environmental Site Assessments including soil and ground water investigations may be required to investigate the potential impacts within the Site caused by surrounding land uses. There may be soil and ground water disposal implications if replacement of culverts located across the Site is required.
