CHRIS STIRLING SHARES HIS SUPPORT ‘New Zealand Rugby Union - High Performance Talent Manager, Chris Stirling, voices his Support for the Stadium 4 Cornwall’ Cornwall is a truly beautiful county with many wondrous things to do and explore, the transition from New Zealand to Cornwall was made very easy by both the surroundings and the friendly people. Rugby is a passion in the county and has a long and proud tradition. I was very privileged to have had the opportunity to add to the progress of the Cornish Pirates and to meet some fantastic people along the way. The three years were filled with many positive and satisfying moments some of which were winning the BI Cup and reaching the Champion- ship finals v Worcester and London Welsh. As it became clear that the stadium for Cornwall was not going to happen in the near future a decision was made to relocate back to NZ, this was made after much thought and discussion with my family and as I had been offered a role with the NZRU coupled with no stadium or chance of promotion a return to NZ was chosen. Cornwall and rugby at the Pirates has played a large part in shaping my career. I will always look back with pride and satisfaction at what was achieved during my tenure but also with frustration at what could have been achieved had the stadium issues been sorted. I wish all involved with the stadium project all the best and commend your commitment to the cause. Keep up the good work I’m sure you will achieve your goals”.
