Margret Köll Having started with the Tyrolian folk harp, Margret Köll studied the concert harp in Innsbruck, Baltimore and then in the class of Prof. Helga Storck’s at the Musikhochschule Mόnchen, from where she graduated as a teacher and performer. After further studies on historical harps with Andrew Lawrence-King and Mara Galassi, she took a degree at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan. Since 2012 she teaches baroque harp at the Hochschule Hans-Eisler in Berlin. In 2008 she was awarded the “Jakob-Stainer-Preis” in Austria. As a principal harpist she has worked with orchestras such as the Munich Symphony Orchestra. Also, she was a member of a contemporary folk-band Die Knödel and participated in their worldwide tours (e.g. Knitting Factory / New York). They had collaborations with outstanding artists like Meredith Monk, Sainkho Namtchylak and the Kronos Quartett. As a specialist on the historical harp she plays as a soloist and as a continuo player with various ensembles: Il Giardino Armonico, Accademia Bizantina, Europa Galante, Balthasar- Neumann-Ensemble, Akademie fόr Alte Musik Berlin and Concerto Köln. She has performed at the Salzburger Festspiele, Covent Garden, the Theater an der Wien, the Operα Garnier Paris, the Bayrische Staatsoper and the Teatro alla Scala Milan. Her renowned chamber music partners include soprano Roberta Invernizzi, lutenist Luca Pianca, violinists Enrico Onofri, Georg Kallweit and Dmitry Sinkovsky and viola da gamba player Vittorio Ghielmi. Regularly Margret Köll has participated in CD productions and tours, e.g. with Cecilia Bartoli, Magdalena Kozena, Sonia Prina and Roberta Invernizzi. 2015 tournee in California as a soloist with Concerto Köln . Her solo CD “L’arpa di Parthenope” with early baroque music from Naples (2014 / Accent) was awarded with the Diapason d΄or. .
