Cambridge University Press Course Description Introducing Literature is designed to provide students with an understanding of the literary terms the three principal genres: the short story, poetry and drama. The major emphasis would be making students to appreciate the various nuances of literature and on teaching students the critical appreciation of literature and to write critical essays based on the analysis of various literary works. Course Objectives To develop an understanding of the characteristics of various literary genres. To develop analytical skills and critical thinking through reading, discussion, and written assignments. To broaden a student’s intercultural reading experience. To stimulate an appreciation of art and literature Student Learning Outcomes By the end of the course, a student should be able to: Exhibit an understanding of and appreciation for literature Demonstrate an understanding of literary terms and genres Read literature with an increased critical acumen and write clearly, coherently and effectively.
