FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 11, 2017 Contact: Jim Futrell Cell Phone: (412) 551-5642 NATIONAL AMUSEMENT PARK HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES CONNEAUT LAKE PARK’S 125TH BIRTHDAY Lombard, Illinois – Members of the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA), the worlds' only educational and enthusiast organization dedicated to all aspects of the amusement park, will be celebrating with Conneaut Lake Park the park’s 125th birthday. Twenty-five years ago, NAPHA also helped the park celebrate its centennial and has donated funds from its Heritage Fund to assist the park in its operation and maintenance of Conneaut Lake’s iconic wooden coaster Blue Streak. At 6:00 PM on Sunday July 23, attendees will join with park staff in cutting a cake to celebrate the park’s 125th Birthday and the staff will give attendees a presentation on the state of the park. Beginning at 8:10, the group will be given a walk-through of the park Devil’s Den as well as a ride before the group’s exclusive ride times on the park’s classic Tumblebug ride and the iconic Blue Streak. NAPHA’s celebration at Conneaut Lake is a part of the organization’s Streaking through the Ravine II event. The event itself begins at the Idora Park Experience on Sunday morning. The Experience continues the memories of Youngstown’s well-known Idora Park. The day after the Conneaut Lake celebration, the NAPHA event attendees will spend some time at Erie’s Waldameer Park, experience some exclusive time in the park’s Pirate’s Cove and Whacky Shack as well as time on the park’s highly-rated Ravine Flyer. At 2:00 PM, during lunch, attendees will hear from park management about its current operations and maybe some future plans. The National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) is an international organization dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of the amusement and theme park industry - past, present and future celebrating its 39th year in existence. The organization was founded in 1978 by a former employee of Chicago's legendary Riverview Amusement Park (closed 1967) and has grown through the years to include amusement park enthusiasts from around the world. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in amusement parks and includes people from all walks of life. Throughout its history, NAPHA has worked to preserve amusement park history. NAPHA, through its members and its archives, serves as a resource to the amusement industry, providing information to authors, historians, documentary producers and manufacturers.
