Project Update Foothills Medical Centre Overview • The $550.6 million Foothills Medical Centre project will meet increasing surgical demands in the Calgary zone, address a shortage of intensive care beds with the new Intensive Care Department and address an ongoing overcapacity issue at the trauma centre for Southern Alberta. • The project consists of three parts: o the new eight-story McCaig Tower, which consists of surgical processing, an intensive care unit, surgical suites, inpatient beds, outpatient clinics, a diagnostic imaging suite and a rooftop helipad; o developed new space for the Calgary Lab Services, including anatomic pathology; and o renovations to impacted hospital departments within the existing Foothills Medical Centre main building, including the Emergency Department and CLS lab. Construction Update: • McCaig Tower was completed in June 2010. • Calgary Lab Services construction was completed in July 2015. • The renovations to impacted hospital departments consists of five phases: o Phase 1 - The addition of an atrium was completed in September 2011. o Phase 2 - General admitting, minor procedure rooms, and administration space were completed in September 2013. o Phase 3 - Triage, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Admitting, the waiting area, and patient treatment spaces were completed in September 2015. o Phase 4 - Isolation, gynecological and monitored patient treatment spaces are under construction. 1 o Phase 5 – The Emergency Department staff administration area and the monitored patient treatment spaces. Construction for the staff administration area is under way. What is coming up? • Phase 4 - Isolation, gynecological and monitored patient treatment spaces are expected to be completed and turned over to AHS in the spring of 2016. • Phase 5 - the Emergency Department staff administration area is expected to be completed and turned over to AHS during the spring of 2016. Construction on the monitored patient treatment spaces is expected to begin in the spring of 2016 and be completed in early 2018. April-May 2016 2 .
