To all of you who helped make both the festival raffle ticket and our to-go fish fry a great success! From all those who sold tickets (and bought them) to those fish fry volunteers, we could not have done it without you! Both fundraisers did exactly that – which helps offset the losses we incurred due to the loss of regular fish fry and festival. And beyond the financial success, it also highlights the creative ways we can maintain our sense of community while adhering to federal, state, and local health guidelines. Please mark on your calendars Saturday, September 26th for a new event: A to-go burger bash held at St. Robert church. As we say – forthcoming details can be found in future bulletins. Labor Day is this Monday, September 7th (already?!). While many of our traditional events marking this holiday (and summer’s unofficial end) are cancelled, one good way is still in the offing. Please join us on Labor Day at St. Angela’s for Mass at 9am. Together we can pray for our community, the nation, and the world for all who seek gainful employment and for those who have it, that their dignity as workers will be respected through fair workplace practices and just compensation for their labors. These are not merely planks in political platforms that parties like to campaign with – they are ultimately moral issues. Growing up in an old coal town, I remember delivering fruit baskets at Christmas with the parish youth group to widows whose husbands died of black lung – an easily preventable disease had the mine company purchased masks and other equipment for their miners. Instead, the company determined that expense was not worth cutting into its profit and as a result, many families were destroyed by it. This example is one out of many reasons why the Church, beginning in 1891, started to speak on critical issues of the modern world. To have a Faith and Church completely aloof to the world around is something that as Catholics, we cannot subscribe to. Our Faith must be lived out and expressed in the world – and that means speaking with authority on faith and morals pertaining to real world issues. 4 OFFERTORY COLLECTIONS August 30, 2020 Offertory $ 15,025..00 Please remember in your prayers : Monthly Maintenance $ 612.00 Parish Share* $ 1,599.00 Lawrence Holden and Vince Pecora All Saints $ 95.00 Catholic Communication $ 110.00 May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
