Amsterdam Aurora Biannual – Transportation Recommendations Train Transportation from the airport to Amsterdam city is best reachable through the Dutch railway company NS. If you plan your route on Google Maps, it will tell you what matter of transportation you can use. Within the city centre, this is most likely the tram, bus and metro (GVB). At the yellow machines located at the train station, participants may purchase a train ticket. You could buy one-way tickets or get a travel pass that includes tram, bus and metro. Bus, Metro & Tram The GVB is the first wind-powered energy transportation company in Amsterdam. The blue and white buses, trams and metros take you in whichever direction you'd want to go. If you plan your route on Google Maps, it will tell you what matter of transportation you can use. Within the city centre, this is most likely the tram, bus, and metro (GVB). For tickets there are several options, of which the following two would make the most sense: - A multi-day pass for GVB, this will give you unlimited access to the tram and metro during the conference. - A travel pass that also covers for the train - to get to and from Schiphol Airport you will need to use the train. Ferry The EYE is directly opposite Amsterdam Central Station. When arriving at Amsterdam Central Station, take the exit to IJzijde (IJ bank) to take a ferry. The ferry ‘Buiksloterweg’ takes you across the water. It leaves every few minutes and is free of charge. The ferry ride takes approximately three minutes. Eye is located on your left and is a three-minute walk from the ferry stop. To get to Griffioen Participants may reach the Griffioen by taking tram 5 to ‘Amstelveen Stadshart’ and stopping at the tram stop ‘Uilenstede’. From there on it is a 5-minute walk to the Griffioen.
