AGENCY MISSION Mission Statement: Our dedicated team of professionals ensures public safety by effectively managing offenders while maintaining close collaboration with partner agencies and the community. Our team is devoted to providing maximum opportunities for offenders to make lasting changes through accountability, treatment, education, and positive reinforcement within a safe environment. 4. CLIENT POPULATIONS SERVED All incarcerated inmates at the Utah State Prison and Central Utah Correctional Facility. Male and female inmates are housed in the Draper facility. The Acute Care facility (Olympus) for the SPMI inmates is also located at the Draper prison complex. 5. TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES: Individual Therapy/Supervision, Teaching Psychosocial Educational Classes, Crisis calls, Discharge Planning, Group Therapy/Supervision, Treatment Team Meetings, MH Assessments at Intake and Special Projects as assigned. 6. SPECIAL PROGRAMS/UNITS (LOCATION, FUNCTION) Male/Female housing Units, Acute Care Facility, General Population, Restricted Housing (More Secure) Facilities and low risk SATP/SOTP facilities for Mental Health related treatment. 7. SPECIFIC DAYS/HOURS/TRAINING/ASSIGNMENTS REQUIRED OF STUDENTS Monday through Friday (Can be adjusted to fit UofU schedule) Hours are generally 20 to 29 hours per week starting at 8am-5pm for hours needed per shift. 8. QUALITIES WE LOOK FOR IN A PRACTICUM STUDENT Interns should be engaging, studious and physically capable of moving around as needed in the Draper complex within in a secure environment. Emotionally capable of interacting with a sometimes difficult population and able to set and maintain appropriate boundaries for the MH treatment process and operational requirements of the facility. 9. NUMBER OF STUDENT PRACTICUMS AVAILABLE Two second year MSW or Advance Placement Students for the (Spring Summer semesters) and for the (Fall/Winter Semester) time Periods 10. STIPEND/AMOUNT/CRITERIA FOR AWARDING: $11.15 per hour to each approved intern for the specified weekly hours worked. .
