D - l o o l f PREFACE The current issue of the Annual Statistical Abstract of Tamil Nadu 1993-94 presents Administrative Statistics and data relating to Socio-Economic aspects such as Population, Agriculture, Forests, Industries, Electricity, Education, Medical, Health, Judicial, Co-operation, Transport, Prices, Employment, Banking, State Income, etc. The Statistical Tables are presented with a view to high light the trends in the development of various sectors of Tamil Nadu Economy. As a compendium of essential Statistics pertaining to the State, this volume will serve as an useful source of reference to various Departments of Government especially those in charge of economic planning, research scholers, economists and other inter- esied in the study of the Tamil Nadu Economy.
