The state would not hear of the existence of a child murderer let alone a serial killer. He gets demoted and Child 44: 44 but decides, with just the help of his wife, to continue pursuing the case. Written by Arnold. Child 44 isn't the movie you watch for light entertainment. Child 44: 44 is gritty and tough, and I found myself feeling a sense of absolute disgust for anyone and anything connected with the old school communist state in the USSR. It really makes you look at just how bad that system was and how monstrous the people were who enforced it on the general populace. Nonetheless, the story is compelling, although sometimes the thread jumps around a bit. Tom Hardy's performance was his best ever. I think he warrants an Academy for it. Noomi Rapace was excellent - very authentic in her role. Child 44 is a dark thriller - and without giving anything away, the build up and hatred toward the serial killer really sticks you to this Child 44: 44 - you simply want the killer to get the most gruesome death conceivable for what he does. Apart from the Hollywood aspect, this film depicts reality. This Child 44: 44 how life existed under Communism and I think that message is just as compelling and important as the rest of the story - because it really depicted the terror and the suppression that millions of people lived under in the name of some douche bag's idea of "ideology". May Stalin forever lay dead and remembered for only one thing - he was a murdering asshole. Watch the film folks - I notice that the ratings were low, and I think that is an Child 44: 44 assessment about the quality of this production. Looking for some great streaming picks? I usually tend to look forward to films based solely on the director, but this time I was excited about the cast: Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Noomi Rapace. Of course it is easily going to be labelled as anti-Soviet propaganda considering it is based on a novel written by a British author and directed by a Swedish director. I know this is a Child 44: 44 late review Child 44: 44 this movie came out in April, and the reason for that I completely forgot about this one. It's until I was looking through what I've seen to review and I came across this and I thought to myself "Oh I remember that the movie. Well I should just get my thoughts out since I got Child 44: 44 else to review until tomorrow". The movie is not very good. Actually, it's pretty disappointing. It had such a big name cast to it but even they didn't do anything special in this movie. I'm going to forget about this movie and so will you at the end of year. I'm not going to waste my time or your time taking about this movie, as do you really care about me going into detail about a film that's not good. Nobody cares. A film with a starry cast, most of them under utilised, this has an interesting premise that is loosely based around Russia's most prolific serial killer, Andrei Chikatilo. The wheels however come off fairly quickly as this gets bogged down in subplots, romantic entanglements between main characters that have absolutely no onscreen chemistry at all, Child 44: 44 a finale that is yet another anti-climax. My expectations were fairly low going into this film as I hadn't read too many favourable reviews but I came away pleasantly surprised. Set in the Stalin era of the Soviet Child 44: 44, Tom Hardy plays Leo Demidov, a Russian war hero who is now a highly ranked officer in the Russian security service, his job is to hunt down so called traitors and turn them in for interrogation and once they are coerced into admitting guilt, death by firing squad. The idealistic officers world is turned upside down by a double tragedy, the child of his best friend Alexei Fares Fares is murdered with his superior forcing him to take part in a cover-up and he's Child 44: 44 with looking into…. Review by Robby. There's a lot to Child 44: 44 about "Child 44", such as the great cast who all turn in very good performances, solid cinematography, a few entertaining and very well done action sequences, a harrowing but interesting plot, and the costume related stuff fit the 's perfectly, however it definitely has it's flaws. The directing by Daniel Espinosa is very bland, the writing is terrible, the characters aren't interesting, the run-time could've been Child 44: 44 down by at least 15 minutes, and it doesn't give the plot the treatment it deserves. As a Swede, you always feel a little extra proud when our thespian exports Child 44: 44 this case Joel Kinnaman and Noomi Rapace, among Child 44: 44 get to perform alongside A-listers like Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy. And when the acting is furthermore undermined by strained Russian accents…well, then the way is virtually paved for wounded credibility. Central to the narrative is Tom Hardy as Leo Demidov, a military police agent. His job mainly seems to revolve around chasing down traitors and bringing them to justice. Unlike Child 44: 44 sadistically prone colleagues, however, he…. I was hooked. The film seemingly disappeared. There were no theaters around me playing it. It simply wasn't a good enough film, and the reviews for it make light of this. Outside of the strong, central performance by Tom Hardy, Child 44 isn't that good. The government claims that these children are killed…. Full Review at Vague Visages. I just had to pinch myself there to see if I was actually still in Child 44: 44 cinema watching this, despite it starting yesterday Child 44: 44 am, this is how long and drawn out this film is. In saying Child 44: 44, if you fancy it, see it cos I like some crap movies and am no judge of worthy stuff like this! There are strong performances, and great production design throughout, but in terms of narrative, the film never really seems to know what it is, so tries to be everything all at once. This could well be caused by the inherent problems in adapting a page novel to the screen, however that's not to say there isnt compelling material here.
