BILLY BISHOP TORONTO CITY AIRPORT: TERMINAL A RESTORATION The Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport administration building, commonly known as “Terminal A” has been listed as an historic building since 1989 and is one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Canada and one of a few in the world. Aircraft July 1, 1964: American Airways U.S. Mail Plane-Vintage Ford were already using the runway by this time. The first plane landed Tri-motor warms up its engines in front of the Island Airport at the Island Airport February 4, 1939, piloted by H.F. McLean of Terminal Building (Terminal A). This particular aircraft was Montreal. The first commercial passenger flight was a charter built in 1929, and is now preserved as a static (non-flying) carrying Tommy Dorsey and his swing band for a two-day display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Institute in engagement at the Canadian National Exhibition on September 8, Washington, D.C. 1939. Some of the aircraft pictured include a Lockheed Ventura, a PBY Catalina flying boat, two Norduyn Norsemen, and several Republic Seabee flying boats.
