Representative Kevin Brady (R-TX) Ranking Member U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS Kevin Brady proudly serves the 8th Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. Spanning nine counties in the greater Houston area, the 8th District is home to a robust local economy driven by hardworking men and women, businesses of all sizes, and industries representing every sector of the U.S. economy. Kevin serves as the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee—considered the most powerful committee in Congress—with jurisdiction over taxes, international trade, health care, Medicare, Social Security and welfare. While Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Kevin led the effort to pass the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the first comprehensive overhaul of America’s tax system in more than 30 years. Kevin led congressional efforts to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a modernized version of NAFTA. Recently signed into law by President Trump, USMCA supports billions of dollars in American exports and millions of American jobs in every sector. Kevin is a strong believer that Congress’s most important duty is to provide for the common defense. He is a devoted advocate of family values and the sanctity of life, and a champion of free enterprise and American-made energy. Prior to his election to Congress, Kevin worked as a chamber of commerce executive for 18 years and served six years in the Texas House of Representatives. To stay close to the people he represents, Kevin never moved to Washington. He lives in Montgomery County with his wife Cathy and his two sons..
