H.J.R. 502 Enrolled Copy 29 Highlighted Provisions: 30 This resolution: 31 < recognizes the findings of the Legislative Compensation Commission; and 32 < responds to the findings of the commission in relation to a recommended increase in 33 the daily salary rate for legislators. 34 Special Clauses: 35 None 36 37 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah: 38 WHEREAS, on November 19, 2019, the Legislative Compensation Commission 39 presented its 2020 report, which contains the commission's bi-annual review of legislative 40 compensation and presents a list of findings that relate to that compensation and legislator's 41 salary for their service in elected office; 42 WHEREAS, the Legislative Compensation Commission's 2020 report recommended, 43 among other matters, that beginning with fiscal year 2020, the daily salary rate for legislators 44 increase from the current rate of $285 per day to $292 per day; 45 WHEREAS, the Legislature thanks the Legislative Compensation Commission for their 46 efforts; and 47 WHEREAS, in the interest of fiscal responsibility and consistent with budget cuts that 48 have been necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is best to forgo the recommended 49 increase in the daily salary rate for legislators: 50 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, 51 according to the procedures of Utah Code Annotated Section 36-2-3, hereby elects to reject the 52 increase in the daily salary rate for legislators that was recommended by the Legislative 53 Compensation Commission's 2020 report. - 2 -.
