Inspired by her mother’s work, Lisa started volunteering after her children had grown, taking on various roles including receptionist and joining the EPS Auxiliary. Her husband, Bob, volunteers his time as a current member of the EPS Board of Directors. Lisa is also joined by her sister, Kelly Epperson, who volunteer’s in the boutique at the EPS Benson Center. This family’s work for EPS took an even more meaningful turn after Bob and Lisa’s daughter, Erika Choquette, and her husband, Spencer, lost their baby girl, Saige, at only nine days old in October of 2017. Looking for a way to navigate through their grief, Erika and Spencer have chosen to give selflessly to the work and mission of EPS. In November of 2017, Erika began to volunteer as a testing advocate and then as a volunteer nurse. Most recently she joined the EPS team as a part-time staff nurse. Additionally, Erika and Spencer have chosen to carry out Saige’s legacy by creating “Saige’s Fund” in memory of their daughter. Saige’s Fund helps Scholarships and tuition assistance are available.
