He was an example to all by pastoring Bethel in Oklahoma City for over 45 years. He was every pastor's friend, had a quick smile, and enjoyed life. He was a patriot who served in WW II in the 313th Bomber Wing in the Pacific. Hugo was on many associational, state, and SBC committees including chairman of the 1973 89ers Crusade, Baptists for Life, Birthright of Oklahoma City, Right to Life of Ok- lahoma, and for 13 years as trustee of Southwestern Baptist Theo- logical Seminary. As a friend and fellow member of the Baptist Historical Society it is an honor to dedicate this Chronicle to him.
