Marjorie Duffield’s lyrical play is an imagining of the experience the men had on the ship The Endurance and their attempt to be the first to cross the pole. I’m drawn to stories of explorers, pioneers and people who have the strength of heart to endure much. Whether their motivation is for themselves, for the advancement of humanity or for God and country; these are extraordinary people. I want to know them, spend some time with them and have a glimpse into their extraordinary lives. Next year marks the 100th anniversary of Shackleton’s expedition to Antarctica and we’re honored to be telling a story that shines a light on the human spirit and on these men. He is a junior Theatre major from Florence, Mississippi. His most recent role on the stage has been William in The Drunkard. On top of acting, John enjoys singing in the choral choir of Belhaven and learning all he can about stage combat. Craig Fairbanks (Wordie) Craig is a sophomore Theatre Performance major and is happy to be a part of Ice Island: The Wait for Shackleton. He is originally from Jackson, Michigan, and has previously been seen on the Belhaven Stage in productions of Angel Street and Shipwrecked!: the Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont. He also performed over the summer in the Masterworks Festival off-broadway production of 12 Angry Jurors in New York City. Eric Henderson (Hurley) Eric is a transfer student from Liberty University and through a series of many fortunate events ended up here at Belhaven University. This is his second collegiate performance with Belhaven University after previously starring as the Preacher and the Salvation Army Leader in last spring’s production of The Drunkard. Eric would like to honor God above all else during each performance. He would like to thank the Lord, his director, and his ridiculously awesome cast members. Daniel Jones (Blackborrow) Daniel Jones was born and raised in Germany moving to Mississippi at the age of 17. Daniel has been involved in many theatrical events both in the US and overseas. Some of his roles include Scapin in Scapin (NWCC) Mr. Mistofeles in Cats and Seaweed in Hairspray. In addition to acting Daniel is also a artist appearing on HLN and performing at venues all over the world. Thaddeus Morris (Crean) Thaddeus Morris, from San Antonio, Texas, is a junior majoring in Theatre at Belhaven University. He was last seen on the Belhaven stage in The Drunkard. Other appearances at Belhaven include Henry V, Rapunzel’s Prince in the musical production of Into the Woods and in the fall 2011 Musical Review. Other recent appearances include Jack in Hot Rod, the Duke of Milford in Flapper and Eddie Cowles in Give My Regards to Broadway all performed with San Antonio Performing Arts. Thaddeus would like to thank his parents for their love and support in pursuing the art form of his dreams. Ethan Polson (Wild) Ethan is a junior Theatre Performance major originally from Ankeny, Iowa. Most recently, he performed in North Carolina as a dancer and The Fire Dancer in the show Horn in the West. Previous Belhaven credits include the inebriated Edward in The Drunkard, various roles in Henry V, and Michael in Sister Calling My Name. When he is not acting, Ethan enjoys playing the piano, doing gymnastics, as well as freerunning, dancing, and making YouTube videos. Tymothe Thompson, Jr. (Worsley) Tymothe is a sophomore at Belhaven University. He has performed in over thirty musical productions of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the past ten years with theatres such as KNS Theatre, WINGS Performing Arts, Gulf- port Little Theatre, A.C.T., and MGCSO (Mississippi Gulf Coast Sympho- ny Orchestra). Some highlights include Edna in Hairspray, Adolfo Pierelli in Sweeney Todd, and Jack in Into the Woods. He recently performed in Belhaven Theatre’s productions of The Drunkard (Mr. Cribbs) and Henry V (Male Actor #5). He hopes you thoroughly enjoy tonight’s performance as much as he has enjoyed working with this talented cast! Acts 1:7-8 Joshua Nicholson (Music Engineer) A native of Mobile, AL, Joshua is an actor and musician living in New York City. He released an album of children’s music in 2010 (MrJotz.com) and is the President and Co-Founder of a new company developing story- book apps for kids (EssentiallyAwesomeInc.com). Marianne Savell (Director) Recent directing projects include Henry V (Belhaven), Bill W. & Dr. Bob (Fish Tale Group Theatre), Barefoot in the Park (Tidewater Stage, Virginia) and An Inspector Calls (Americana Theatre Company, Massachusetts). Marianne is an associate artist with Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle, WA and was the Producing Director of Actors Co-op in Hollywood, CA. She received her MFA in Acting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is an Assistant Professor in the theatre department at Belhaven University. Luis Ramirez (Scenic & Lighting Designer) Luis began his professional career as resident designer at the Academy Theatre in Atlanta. His career as a scenic and lighting designer includes productions at Stage One in Louisville, The Body Politic Theatre in Chicago, Acacia Theatre Company in Milwaukee, Blues City Cultural Center in Memphis, and Saltworks Theatre Company in Pittsburgh. Luis earned his MFA degree in scene design from Carnegie Mellon University. He has taught on the theatre faculty at the University of Mississippi, Huntington University, Stephen F. Austin State University and East Texas Baptist University. He is an active member of the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology, and several of his designs were included in the World Stage Design Exhibition in Toronto in 2005. Marjorie Duffield (Playwright) Marjorie is a New York based librettist and playwright. Off-Broadway and regional credits include: Ice Island (The Melting Pot Theatre Company), Sit-In at the Five & Dime with composer Janice Lowe (New Harmony Project, Barrington Stage, Voice & Vision), In A Lake of Fire (William- stheatre - winner of the Moss Hart Award and Finalist for the Richard Rodgers Awards) with composer Greg Pliska, and Cyber-Alice with composer Sunmee Cho (Lincoln Center Directors Lab at HERE). Marjorie is a graduate of Williams College and NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, where she was a Jacob Javits Fellow. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and recipient of the Dramatist Guild’s Jonathan Larson Memorial Musical Theatre Fellowship.
