The Studio Studio | introduction Robert Terradas Muntañola (Barcelona 1944) and Esteve Terradas Muntañola (Barcelona 1950) obtained their doctoral degrees in architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) in 1968 and 1976, respectively. Roberto has taught Projects since 1997 at the ETSAB. Moreover, he is Director of the Escuela de Ingeniería y Arquitectura La Salle in Barcelona. In turn, Esteban is Tenured Professor of ETSAB where he has been in charge of the Projects course since 1997, as well as being President of the Jury for the End- of-University Courses at ETSAB. Both have been working jointly for over thirty years and have ample experience in bringing to fruition large-scale projects related to cultural, sports, commercial, housing and office spaces, as well as in interior architecture. Esteban and Roberto Terradas. Two architects, two brothers, two personalities, but a single way of understanding architecture. Entirely devoted to their work, Esteban and Roberto fully enjoy each project. Together they delve into each new challenge they encounter in their professional path enthusiastically, following the path they have chosen and that joins them. Both head the studio Terradas Arquitectos, working with a team of professionals that share their same passion for architecture. This team has executed extremely successful architectural projects with a work philosophy which applies research, creativity and conversation as paramount elements of the processes in project conception. They have authored the creation or refurbishing of many important buildings such as the Barcelona Royal Shipyards, the CosmoCaixa Science Museum of Barcelona (finalist for the FAD Architecture Award 2005 and Best European Museum Award), the CosmoCaixa Science Museum of Madrid (Alcobendas), the Barcelona Aquarium, the Police School of Catalunya and the Olympic Shooting complex, the Fire-fighters School at Mollet, the Students’ Hall of Residence at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC) and at the Escuela de Ingeniería y Arquitectura La Salle in Barcelona, among others. Great works, all of them accomplished with the utmost professionalism and quality. They have been recognized in numerous publications and by way of various awards, such as the FAD Opinion Award in 1981 for the recovery and restoration of the Consulate Chamber of the Lonja, (market), dating back to the XVI century. In addition, they obtained the 1988 FAD Architecture Award for the Balmanya School and the prize Ciutat de Barcelona in 1997, which are among the many that underpin the development and success of their architectural studio.
