As in the previous years I am very grateful to the ASIAN ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION and its General Secretary, Mr Shuggu Maran; without this support I would not have been able to realise this project. Just as for the previous editions the publication of such detailed continental rankings was possible only thanks to valuable help from various statisticians and federations. So I would like to express my sincere thanks to Mohammad Abdulwahab (for excellent information from several ARAB countries and for his translations for info in ARAB figures); Ken Nakamura, Yoshimasa Noguchi & Akihiro Onishi (JPN); Xie Zhengmao (CHN); Dennis Ng (HKG); Umar Yono (INA); Ram.Muralikrishnan & Rahul Pawar (IND); Bijan Shadmehr (IRI); Alexey Kondrat (KAZ); Ivan Sherbakov (KGZ); Lina Kim & Chung Young-Hoon (KOR); Gaby Issa El Khoury & Krystel Saneh (LBN); Jad Adrian Washif (MAS); C.Zorigtbaatar (MGL); Diwakar Lal Amatya (NEP); Muhammad Zafar (PAK); Tyne Arteaga & Andrew Pirie (PHI); Jong Song Ok (PRK); Mohamed Shahruddin (SGP); Anjana Kalhara & Sameera Lakruwan Perera (SRI); Evgeny Shumarin (TJK); Tatyana Stepanisheva (TKM); Doris Hung & Teng Kuo-Kai (TPE) and Hoang Minh Quyet (VIE); Mirko Jalava (FIN); Winfried Kramer (GER); Carole Fuchs & Michel Saint-Raymond (FRA); Peter Matthews (GBR); György Csiki (HUN); Zbigniew Jonik (POL); Jose Luis Hernandez (SPA) and David Monti (USA); the Athletics Federations of China, Hongkong, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrghizstan, Korea, Kuwait, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, DPR Korea, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam for their direct and indirect help. Further pieces of information have been taken from various websites, magazines and newspapers. As in the past I am particularly indebted to my very close friends Mirko Jalava (FIN), Winfried Kramer and Jürgen Schmidt (GER) for their excellent cooperation to this project. Unfortunately it was impossible for me and my friends to get the necessary information from the remaining countries in spite of many inquiries; therefore again the leading performers from those countries (esp. their performances at major national competitions in BAN, BRN, BRU, CAM, KSA, LAO, MAC, OMA, PLE, SYR, TLS and UAE) couldn´t be enclosed to these area rankings due to the missing cooperation by the officials from these ASIAN AA Member Federations, who decided to exclude their best athletes from these rankings for the ASIAN AA as well as from IAAF publications (World Senior/Junior/Youth 2019 Rankings, IAAF National Records database) and from different other World Athletics Rankings publications. All readers are kindly invited to send any additions and/or corrections to the lists as well as 2020 information to the editor and/or to the ASIAN AA. 2 D e t a i l s Just as in the previous editions, the 2019 rankings are divided into two sections in order to show the leading performances from as many Asian countries as possible in addition to the continental Top 30 annual lists, which –for most events - consist of results by athletes from the two leading countries, China and Japan. The division is as follows: a) Asian Top 30 lists (more performers, however, when there are more than 30 athletes among or at least close to the “World TOP 100”) b) other next best performances restricted to 4 performers per country for each event. Additional results (i.e. windy marks, indoor performances and national records outside the limits above) are given in separate sections. For all events up to 400m, main lists are given with fully automatic timing only, but, following the policy of the IAAF, better hand-timed results are also added (with a differential of 0.24 seconds for sprints respectively 0.14 seconds for 400m, 400m hurdles and 4x100 m). I have added those performers with better hand-times separately at the end of each event. A list for the Mixed 4x400 m Relays (as new official WorldAthletics/IAAF event) is included for the first time. New Asian records are indicated by ´AR´, new Asian indoor records by ´AIR`, new Asian junior records by ´AJR´ and all new national records by ´NR´. In addition, new national indoor records are shown by `NIR`, but only when better than the relevant national records outdoors. Exact dates of birth are given where available in the following format: 150599 = 15 May 1999. Those juniors whose exact birthdates are not known are denoted with ´jr´ (i.e. born 2000 or later). For the walks combined lists are given, including both track results (indicated by times given with 1/10 or 1/100 seconds and ´t´) and marks from road races (listed in full seconds only). As for the results of meetings lasting several days and the exact date not known, only the last day is given, preceded by a «-». 3 st ASIAN Continental Records (as at 31 Dec 2019) MEN (Olympic events) 100 m 9.91 Femi Seun Ogunode QAT Wuhan 04.06.2015 9.91 Femi Seun Ogunode QAT Gainesville 22.04.2016 9.91 Su Bingtian CHN Madrid 22.06.2018 9.91 Su Bingtian CHN Paris 30.06.2018 200 m 19.88 Xie Zhenye CHN London 21.07.2019 400 m 43.93 Youssef Ahmed Al-Masrahi KSA Beijing 23.08.2015 800 m 1:42.79 Youssef Saad Kamel BRN Monaco 29.07.2008 1500 m 3:29.14 Rashid Ramzi BRN Roma 14.07.2006 5000 m x3) 12:51.96 Albert Rop BRN Monaco 19.07.2013 10000 m 26:38.76 Abdullah Ahmad Hassan QAT Bruxelles 05.09.2003 Marathon 2:04:43 El Hassan El Abbassi BRN Valencia 02.12.2018 3000 m Steeple 7:53.63 Saif Saeed Shaheen QAT Bruxelles 03.09.2004 110 m Hurdles 12.88 Liu Xiang CHN Lausanne 11.07.2006 400 m Hurdles 46.98 Abderrahman Samba QAT Paris 30.06.2018 High Jump 2.43 Mutaz Essa Barshim QAT Bruxelles 05.09.2014 Pole Vault x4) 5.92i Igor Potapovich KAZ Stockholm 19.02.1998 Long Jump 8.48 Mohamed S.Al-Khuwailidi KSA Sotteville 02.07.2006 Triple Jump 17.59 Li Yanxi CHN Jinan 26.10.2009 Shot Put 21.13 Sultan Abdulm.
