As we learn more about the population we serve, our client- centric model remains at the forefront of our work. To address these rapidly changing needs, last year, LifeMoves introduced innovative, evidence-based programs to better serve our clients, wherever they are. New programs include: New Haven Inn: Only the second of its kind in the United States, New Haven Inn is an LGBTQ+ shelter that is tailored to protect and provide for the specific needs of the LGBTQ+ community. With almost one-third of the homeless population in Santa Clara County identifying as LGBTQ+, New Haven Inn provides essential resources, including a safe and welcoming environment for members of the often underserved LGBTQ+ community to thrive. Safe Parking Sites: LifeMoves opened multiple Safe Parking Sites that provide food, case management, and safety to the growing population living in their cars. Through Safe Parking, clients are able to sleep in a secure environment and also access LifeMoves supportive services to help them return to stable housing. Motel Voucher Program: To better serve families in San Jose, LifeMoves launched a Motel Voucher Program that allows families living in their cars to transition to local motels.
