Identify Keywords There are words and phrases that many people love to hear, such as payday, sale, summer holiday and beach party. Keywords, also called clue words, are just as great because they offer hints to help solve word problems. To get the most out of keywords: 1. Read over the problem several times. 2. Identify and underline the keywords. 3. Determine their meanings. Keywords often provide clues about which mathematical operation to use.
