Our Nations Pride Guru Gobind Singh 5 January 1666 Guru Gobind Singh teaching and warrior spirit hold great importance to the Sikhs even today. During his time, he refused to answer to the Mughal invaders and fought alongside the Khalsa for the protection of his people. Gobind Singh’s greatest achievement was his creation of the Khālsā in 1699. Lala Lajpat Rai 28 January 1865 Lala Lajpat Rai immensely contributed to attaining independence from the nation. The movement was led by Lajpat Rai’s in Punjab and he soon came to be known as "Punjab Kesri" (The Lion of Punjab). Besides, a great freedom fighter and leader, Lala Lajpat Rai was also a noted writer. Major Som Nath Sharma -31 January 1923, Major Som Nath Sharma was born on 31 January 1923 at Dadh, Kangra, then in the Punjab Province of British India. Major Somnath Sharma, PVC, of the Indian Army, was the first recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration. He has set an example of courage and qualities seldom equaled in the history of the Indian Army. His last message to the Brigade Headquarters a few moments before he was killed was, ‘the enemy is only 50 yards from us. We are heavily outnumbered. We are under devastating fire. I shall not withdraw an inch but will fight to the last man and the last round.’ Subhas Chandra Bose -23 January 1897 Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is an Indian Nationalist whose patriotism towards India has left a mark in the hearts of many Indians. His famous slogans are 'tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe aazadi dunga', 'Jai Hind', and 'Delhi Chalo'. .
