WE VALUE YOU 2 As a publicly funded university, we welcome staff and students of all beliefs and backgrounds, and uphold a respectful, open-minded and culturally diverse learning environment. We support our students in attaining the highest level of academic achievement through the provision of quality teaching and resources. We are committed to providing equal access to education for all people. We provide flexible learning options such as part-time study and pathway courses to meet the ever-changing needs of our students. PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE 3 We build and maintain strong links with our communities and industries to produce highly skilled professionals who are leaders in their field. Throughout the course of their studies, students undertake professional placements, volunteer work and community service, with many securing excellent jobs before they graduate. MORE THAN STUDY 4 University is a great place to meet new people and have new experiences. Each campus student association regularly hosts events such as barbecues, balls and concerts. There are also clubs, societies and initiatives, and sporting events such as ACU Games and University Games. We are committed to the development of social and community engagement by providing opportunities such as volunteer experience programs which allow students to give back to their communities and make a difference. TRAVEL THE WORLD 5 Students don’t have to wait until they graduate to see more of Australia and the world. ACU students can attend an overseas university in more than 16 countries, complete an internship with Disney, and work in community programs around the world – all while receiving credit towards their degree. YOUR SUCCESS 6 We understand that success means different things to different students. The Office of Student Success works closely with students to meet their unique personal and academic needs. The Office provides academic skills, career development and counselling services, and support for people with special needs or disabilities on each campus. Campus Life Coordinators and the ACU National Student Association (ACUNSA) ensure students have the resources they need to achieve a healthy study/life balance. CATHOLIC INTELLECTUAL TRADITION 7 As Australia’s leading Catholic university, ACU is fortunate to be supported by the richness of more than 2,000 years of Catholic intellectual tradition. As a member of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, we are devoted, through research as well as teaching, to communicating truth in every field of knowledge, and to promoting the dignity of all people and the common good. 3 Where can Benny Callaghan James Ajaka Benny, an arts graduate from James’ passion for building ACU, is now Chief Executive of the brands began while studying a School of Social Entrepreneurs Bachelor of Commerce at ACU, ACU which runs nine-month programs and has taken him from the world for would-be entrepreneurs. of boxing to the role of CEO at Benny’s students have provided Nudie juices. affordable fresh food hampers to TAKE One of James’ first adventures struggling families, helped girls in business came after meeting in Sierra Leone attend school, boxer Kostya Tszyu. “I felt there and given young people access to YOU? were so many things he should driving lessons. be doing with his brand,” said “The school is not about taking James, who then went on to experienced entrepreneurs; we’re secure Kostya a line of boxing taking ordinary, everyday people equipment, a DVD and a triple with big passion and ideas.” book deal. “We put together a whole bunch of initiatives for The school is built on the premise Kostya which are still around that people who experience today.” problems first-hand often have the best ideas on how to solve Then in 2002, James was them, but often lack the skills, approached by Tim Pethick to confidence, experience and launch a fruit juice business. networks to bring them to life. “When we started, there was a blender, one truck and some “Every day I get to associate fruit – we sold 40 bottles in our with some pretty inspired and first week.
