She became Muslim in her Whitechapel Heritage early teens, eventually learning Arabic and studying with visiting Muslim scholars and travelling extensively in the Muslim world. In 1992, she completed her studies in Hamburg that included Islamic Law and Theology with Imam Razvi, the leading scholar in Hamburg's Muslim Community, as well as Islamic studies, Christian Theology and Comparative Religion at the university. Shaikha Halima is currently the Imam for the German speaking Muslims in Hamburg Mosque. Walk From 1984-1988 she was part of a team that produced a German translation of the Qur'an with commentary notes, and afterwards was involved in translating some volumes of Hadith and Islamic law as well. Date: Sunday 26 June 2011 In 1985, Shaikha Halima became a founding member of the Inter-Religious Dialogue Circle at the Department of Theology at Hamburg University. Finally, in 1993 she helped found the educational institute Initiative for Islamic Time: Meet at Aldgate Station for Studies and succeeded Imam Razvi as the head of the German-speaking community when he retired from active service. She contributed to several books on interfaith studies and wrote a number of articles on various Islamic and 11.00am (tbc) inter-religious subjects. She teaches regularly in London and across Europe and is particularly interested in inter-faith dialogue. Tour of East London Mosque Sybil Sheridan Historical walk around Jewish Rabbi Sybil Sheridan was born in Bolton, Lancashire and was one of the first non Christians to gain a degree in Theology and Religious Studies from Cambridge University. She continued her studies at the Leo Baeck College, & Muslim Whitechapel London, and in Jerusalem, and received Rabbinic Ordination from the Leo Baeck College in 1981. She served congregations in Ealing, Swindon and Reading, before taking up the pulpit at the Wimbledon and District Synagogue where she now works alongside Rabbi Sylvia Rothschild as the one and only rabbinic 'job share.' To register and for further Sybil has in the past taught at the Leo Baeck College, at the Muslim College, and occasionally for the Cambridge Theological Federation. She remains deeply committed to interfaith dialogue, an interest born out of her information email experiences at university, and is involved in countless interfaith organisations. Her particular interest is in Muslim Jewish dialogue and especially between women and co-chaired Home Office International Conference for Women in Judaism and Islam.
