All competitors and owners of horses must be members of Horse Council BC to participate 4 MAPLE RIDGE EQUI-SPORT CENTRE RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION ENTRIES CLOSE Closing date for the August Dog Days of Summer – July 21, 2020 Closing date for the September Fall Classic – August 18, 2020 1. RULES AND REGULATIONS The 2020 MREC August and September Hunter and Jumper Horse Shows are Horse Council BC provincially-sanctioned Competitions and will be governed in accordance with the Horse Council BC Rule Book. Knowledge of the Rules is the responsibility of the Competitor. MANAGEMENT The Horse Show Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to, arising out of, or incident to the MREC Horse Shows without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered by these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Horse Show Management and their decision is final. The Horse Show Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders exhibitors, prohibit claim damages; to change any course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges, and to change specifications in jumper classes. 3. HORSE COUNCIL BC All owners riders, lessees and trainers must be current members of Horse Council BC. 4. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR Anyone on MREC Property while mounted must wear an approved helmet, with safety harness correctly fastened, at all times while mounted AND while lunging. Junior competitors jogging any horse for soundness must wear properly fitted approved BSI or ASTM protective headwear with safety harness correctly secured at all times. 5. DRESS All participants must be properly dressed in the confines of the arena. This includes the inspection of the course. Black or brown smooth leather half chaps are permitted providing they match the boot color. In the jumper ring, open-neck polo shirts are allowed. No sweatshirts, t-shirts, tank tops or other similar dress will be permitted. Shirts must be neatly tucked into riding breeches. 6. EARPHONES/EARBUDS Earphones/earbuds and/or other electronic communication devices are strictly prohibited in the competition arena, and such usage is penalized by elimination. The use of only one earphone/earbud is allowed while mounted everywhere within the grounds of the Event except the riding arena. 5 7. JUNIOR RIDERS Individuals are juniors until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 18. Junior “A” – a rider who is 15, 16, or 17 on January 1, 2020. Junior “B” – a rider who is 12, 13, or 14 on January 1, 2020. Junior “C” – a rider who is 11 or under on January 1, 2020. 8. HC ENTRY AGREEMENT For each horse entered please complete a separate entry form to include: owner and rider information all membership numbers, signatures, payment for: classes entered, stabling fees, exhibitor fees, GST and warm-up fees if required. Membership cards must be presented at check in or copies sent with entry forms. Payment can be made with a credit card, with the entry faxed to 604 882-0154, on-line at www.horseshowtime.com or paid with a cheque, payable to MREC in Canadian Funds, mailed with the entry form to 21973 – 132 Ave, Maple Ridge, BC, V4R 2T1. Numbers will NOT be issued unless all signatures are in place, all memberships are current and listed, the covid health and wellness form has been handed into the office, and all fees have been paid. 9. ENTRY PROCEDURE For each horse entered please complete a separate entry form to include: owner and rider information,(entries may be made in the name of a farm/stable provided the name is registered with EC), all membership numbers, signatures, payment for: classes entered, stabling or haul-in fees, exhibitor fees, drug fees, GST and warm-up fees if required. Membership cards must be presented at check in or copies sent with entry forms. Payment can be made with a credit card, with the entry faxed to 604 882-0154, on-line at www.horseshowtime.com or paid with a cheque, payable to MREC in Canadian Funds, mailed with the entry form to 21973 – 132 Ave, Maple Ridge, BC, V4R 2T1. Numbers will NOT be issued unless all signatures are in place, all memberships are current and listed, the covid health and wellness forms have been handed into the office and all fees have been paid by cheque or credit card. Cheques returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $50.00. Entries must be repaid within 10 days and be paid by certified cheques, money order, cash, Visa or Mastercard and must include the $50.00 fee. 10. HORSE REGISTRATIONS Horse Registrations are not required at MREC HCBC rated competitions. 11. BARN BILLS & TRAINER SPLITS Trainers requiring barn bills must set them up at the beginning of the horse show with a credit card or open cheque. Trainer splits must be done by no later than Saturday. 12. NUMBERS Every entry will be assigned an entry number by the horse show office. Correct numbers must be worn at all times and be clearly visible anywhere out of the stable at the event location where the horse is being hand walked or ridden. Numbers will not be issued unless entry forms are complete. This includes: fully paid current owner, rider and trainer, Horse Council memberships, all signatures, the covid health and wellness form has been handed into the office and all entries paid in full. A credit card number or an open cheque must be left with the entry secretary if competitors wish to add classes during the event. Equitation riders not riding their own horse must sign the form (and have a parent or guardian sign if a junior rider) for the horse they are riding and use that horse’s number. 13. POST ENTRIES Post-entries will NOT be accepted at this show as all classes will be running on an order-of-go system. 6 14. SUBSITUTIONS With a Veterinarian’s certificate a new horse may be substituted for a scratched horse. There will be a $25 substitution fee and all monies will be transferred to the new horse. 15. ADD/SCRATCHES: CHANGE POLICY There will be NO add/scratch fee as there will be no opportunity to add classes at this event as all classes will be running on an order-of-go system. Please inform the office or gate if you wish to scratch. No refunds for scratches. 16. REFUNDS • CANCELLATION BEFORE CLOSING DATE - Before closing date of entries a full refund will be given. • CANCELLATION AFTER CLOSING DATE BUT BEFORE THE START OF THE HORSE SHOW - STALL FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. Upon the presentation of a Vet Slip to the entry secretary the entry fees, exhibitor fees, and warm up fees will be refunded, minus an office fee of $25 or 15% whichever is greater. • CANCELLATION AFTER THE START OF THE HORSE SHOW - Upon presentation of a Vet Slip to the entry secretary, class fees for the classes that have not been shown in, will be refunded, minus a $25 or 15% fee whichever is greater. Stall fee and exhibitor fees will not be refunded. 17. NON-SHOWING FEE We are not allowing any horses on the grounds that are not competeting in the Horse shows 18.
