TYPICAL PRODUCTS Cordoba offers a wide range of high-quality products to the visitants. We can stand out :food products, craftworks ; wines from Montilla- Moriles, Iberian products from the Pedroches Valley ,cheese, virgin olive oil with two designations of origin (D. O) that has the province : Baena and Priego. Crafts have traditions that date back several centuries ago and have its origins in the different cultures that lived in Cordoba during its history: Romans, Christians, and Arabs... In the city, we can find jewellery, typical silver crafts; carve out leather,the famous cordobanes and guadameciles, ironworks, pottery and ceramics. Olive oil Cordoba is the second province in Spain regarding the olive oil production. It has two designations of origin (D. O): Baena and Priego de Córdoba. The Olive and oil is not only a source of revenue but also a way of live and a culture that had made an impact in the daily life of the province; in the furniture, painting, gastronomy and in holidays and traditions of this region. Designation of Origin: Baena The regulatory Council of the designation of origin started in 1.978. The olive oils with designation of origin come up to the requirements demanded by the local rules and are produced in Baena, Doña Mencía, Luque, Nueva Carteya, Zuheros, Castro del Río and Cabra, all of them into the province of Cordoba. Designation of Origin: Priego In 1995, was approved the designation of “Priego de Córdoba” by the regulatory council. La The designation of origin’s production area is formed by the municipalities of Almedinilla, Carcabuey, Fuente Tójar and Priego de Córdoba. Wines from Montilla – Moriles. Designation of origin The designation of origin Montilla-Moriles was constituted by the lands of the regulatory council that have been considered suitable for wine production, they consider the quality of the grape and the characteristics of the land , these wines are produced in Montilla , Moriles , Doña Mencía , Montalbán , Monturque ,Nueva Carteya , Puente Genil, and some parts of Aguilar de la Frontera , Baena , Cabra , Castro del Río , Espejo , Fernán-Núñez , La Rambla, Lucena, Montemayor and Santaella". Types of wine that you can find in Cordoba Fino It is suitable to drink it alone, or accompanied with tapas: seafood, fried fish, cured ham, sausages, cheese not very cured, olives, almonds... Amontillado Any hour is good to have a glass of this special wine that can be accompanied with nuts, cured ham, even with goat cheese or blue cheese. Oloroso Pedro Ximénez Jewellery´s craft If we are talking about artisan jewellers, we have to say that in this region there are more workshops than in another part of Spain. Traditionally, the cordovan jewellery was based on silver, but it has developed and currently they offer a great variety of designs and Jewels. Iberian Products The Iberian pork has an important role in the economy of the north of the region, the Pedroches´ valley, that has several pasturages and forests, where the animal has been breaded .The Iberian products came from the dark pork. Craft Works Leather’s craft is very prestigious across the province along with silver jewellery’s craft. Others important craftworks are: califal pottery, furniture, cooper work and guitars. .
