I am pleased and delighted to share our program details with you. We are an ACGME accredited categorical residency program, with 10 years continuing accreditation, located in the heart of Las Vegas. With 65 categorical residents, we are the largest GME program of the HCA Sunrise Health GME, a member of the HCA GME family. Our mission is to train the next generation of high quality internists to meet the ever-evolving demands of Internal Medicine. The larger focus of our training program is to create a balance between clinical training, fostering research and practicing evidence-based medicine. As Program Director, I diligently work to create a balance of these diverse yet inter-related content areas. Our clinical rotations are based at MountainView Hospital, a community-based hospital, providing healthcare to a diverse patient population in Las Vegas, Nevada. DO Touro University Nevada PGY-3 About the program Core Curriculum Utilizing the 3+1 model each resident will be assigned 3 weeks of rotation across variable clinical rotations including inpatient medicine wards, night float and other subspecialty rotations followed by 1 week of ambulatory care in the continuity clinic. Residents are also assigned 4 weeks of ICU each postgraduate year and 4 weeks of Emergency department in the senior year. Residents also experience inpatient medicine educational training at VA Southern Nevada Health Care System. This provides an opportunity to care for our Veterans and learn the VA EMR system, CPRS, used by every VA Health Care System in the US. We also offer a robust Quality Improvement elective at the VA. Electives To fulfill our mission of training high-quality internists and further expand the clinical learning and experience for the residents, our program offers the following electives: Cardiology; Endocrinology; Gastroenterology; Geriatrics; Hematology & Oncology; Infectious Disease; Nephrology; Neurology; Rheumatology; Anesthesiology; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Ophthalmology; Orthopedic Surgery; Palliative care/Hospice; Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; Psychiatry; Public Health; Pulmonology; Quality Improvement; Sleep Medicine and Wound Care. https://www.sunrisehealthgme.com/documents/Core-Curriculum.pdf Didactic curriculum We have a robust didactic curriculum including noon conference, academic half-day, monthly M&M, journal club, and grand rounds along with ambulatory curriculum. We also conduct weekly Board Review sessions for PGY2 and PGY3 residents. We offer a structured research curriculum in the form of dedicated systemic lecture series preparing residents for research. Each resident participates in a scholarly activity/ research curriculum during their 3rd year. Wellness Our goal is to create well-rounded future physicians by teaching them lifelong skills of resilience, reflection and mindfulness in addition to excellent medical training. Our program has a dedicated wellness committee that meets on a regular basis to identify the needs of our residents, plan events, and activities promoting wellness.
