Research Interests: Signal Transduction in Alzheimer’s Disease Cancer and Molecular biology Current Position: Level: Assistant Professor (Contractual) Affiliation: Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Kashmir, J&K, India Research Statement: I have worked on the role of Syntrophins in Alzheimers disease (AD). Alzheimer’s disease is insidious progressive neurodegenerative disease and represents a critical public health concern. The disease is the leading cause of dementia, recognized by two major pathological markers, senile plaques and neuro-fibrillary tangles, along with an increase in the ROS production. MAP Kinases play a prominent role in the development and progression of this disease. MKK6/p38 kinases show increased expression and activation in the disease. Increased ROS generation is considered as early sign of AD and the mechanism which is involved in ROS production in this disease is not clear. Our work gives a most likely mechanism through which ROS is upregulated in this disease. We observed beta-amyloid activated MKK6 associates with SNTA1 and mediates its activation. Activated SNTA1 regulate the activation of small GTPase Rac1 and ROS production. Research Experience (6 years): Western Blot, Mammalian Cell Culture, Transfection, Transformation, molecular Cloning, Reactive Oxygen Species, Primer designing, PCR, Quantitative PCR, FACS, Apoptosis, Immunofluorescence, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cell Signaling, , Phosphorylation.
